About a year ago, we changed the way crafting redemption works. When we first launched the program, there were numerous crafted materials in each set, and each individual crafted card required a different combination of these materials. While it mimicked how crafting works in the MMO, that proved to be too complicated and frustrating for our players. So, we changed it to what we have now—only one material per set, send in 24 of them (or one box worth) for one crafted card of your choice. The change allows the program to accomplish its goals (simply, a reward for purchasing booster packs) while alleviating the headaches associated with managing a half-dozen materials of various rarities. We consider the change to be hugely successful.
till, we’ve noticed some interesting trends in our player’s buying habits. Many of our players buy a couple of boxes when a set releases, and that’s when we see the majority of your redemptions. As time goes on, players are buying fewer sealed boxes but continue to buy individual boosters, be it individual packs purchased at their local hobby or retail store, or through Limited play. What this means is that players are still buying boosters and accumulating crafting materials, but not at a volume for any given set to actually redeem them for a crafted card.

With that in mind, we’ve decided to release a new set of crafted cards. You can redeem any combination of 24 crafted materials from Worldbreaker Block for one of these crafted cards—Violet Proto-Drake, Soggypaw, or Snaggle. Crafting material redemption for these three cards will begin on the weekend of Darkmoon Faire Philadelphia.
For example 5 Tol’vir Archaeology Fragments from Worldbreaker (or Assault on Icecrown Citadel), 10 Dwarven Artifact Fragments from War of the Elements, and 9 Night Elf Archaeology Fragments from Twilight of the Dragons gets you one (1) copy of your choice from those three cards. We hope this will reward our players who have been purchasing boosters, but not at the specific distribution required to craft one of our previous crafted cards. Thank you for your continued support of the WoW TCG.

    Introducing the Archaeology Crafting Program!

    by Mike Rosenberg

Have you ever gone through your crafting materials in order to redeem for your Cobrascale Hood, only to find that you're one measly Cobra Scales short of redemption? Have you every found that, no matter how many packs you buy, you just keep getting unnecessary crafting cards for what you want?

Have you ever opened a pack of a World of Warcraft TCG expansion and wondered, “What the heck is this Primal Earth supposed to do for me?!”

Cryptozoic Entertainment has listened to your feedback, and is happy to introduce a new take on the crafting redemption program with the Worldbreaker expansion – the Archaeology Crafting Program.

The Archaeology Crafting Program is a new twist on the original crafting redemption. Each pack of Worldbreaker comes with a Tol'vir Archaeology Fragment. Once you've collected 24 fragments, you can redeem them to the address provided at www.wowtcg.com/crafting for one of the three cards listed. It's that simple!

So, why the change? It was based on player feedback. Sets such as Wrath Gate brought back older crafting materials for some of the different cards you could redeem for. This confused players, and for those that only bought packs occasionally, it was very difficult for them to ever assemble the crafting materials for the card they wanted.

Ry Shueller, organized play representative at Cryptozoic Entertainment, shared some details on the new program and why it was introduced. “Players were very confused about how the crafting redemption program worked,” he said. “The problem was that they didn't know what sets they needed to buy booster packs from if older crafting cards were used again.”

“Then there was the problem of people getting a crafting card for the deck they were playing,” he added. “With the Archaeology Crafting Program, players can collect them any time they purchase a pack of Worldbreaker. Once they get 24 Tol'vir Archaeology Fragments, they can redeem it for one of the three cards.” There are no awkward surprises with this program. Once you buy 24 packs of Worldbreaker, you will be able to craft one of the cards available to you.

The redemption form for the Archaeology Crafting Program will go live on www.wowtcg.com/crafting on December 14th, the same day that Worldbreaker goes on sale. Be sure to check out the site then to see what goodies you can redeem your Tol’vir Archeology Fragments for!
